Now Open – Beauty Scents Outlet Store

BS Products Primary

Hi guys, today I have an exciting news to share with all of you!  Beauty Scents Outlet store, the first outlet store for designer perfume and luxury beauty products, opened its doors in Paseo de sta. Rosa last July 31, 2014.

photo from

Beauty Scents carries  limited edition makeup and skin care products from premium beauty brands like Dior and Guerlain.  They even have a selection of nail polish from Dior and selected items from Japanese brands, Za and Majolica Majorca.  They didn’t have a lot of beauty items when they opened over a month ago, but I heard they will be stocking Givenchy and Benefit products eventually.

I’ve been checking their instagram account (@beautyscentsph) for updates and they seem to be stocking up on Dior and Guerlain products. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the arrival of Givenchy and Benefit in Beauty Scents.

Now if you’re a perfume person, you better brace yourself (and your bank account) when you visit because they have a really extensive selection of luxury perfumes for both men and women.  They have everything from the classic perfume brands like Bvlgari, Issey Miyake, Guerlain and limited edition lines from Ferrari, Porsche, John Galliano and more.  Like waaay more.

Let me give you a virtual tour of the place.

Right after the ribbon cutting ceremony, we all swarmed in and checked out the place.  Everyone was really busy trying on perfumes here.

Beauty Scents 6

One of the tables was set up as a makeup over counter for Za and Majolica Majorca.  The other side was reserved for those who want to get a luxe 15-minute facial using Guerlain skincare products.

BS Products 4

I just love love loooove the packaging for Guerlain products!  I was really tempted to get a facial but I decided to pass because I didn’t feel like removing my makeup and have it made up again before meeting my friends later in the evening.

After spying on the makeover counter, I looked around the shop to check the makeup selection.

Of course I had to check the makeup first. haha!

BS Products 8

They don’t have a lot of Guerlain items yet.  Most of the ones they have are limited edition items and basics like foundation and eyeliner.

BS Products 9

Discounted Za skincare items anyone?

A closer look at the Za and Majolica Majorca testers

Beauty Scents carry almost all of the products from Za, Shiseido and Majolica Majorca, but the prices are much lower than the mall price.  So if you’re thinking of getting something from these brands, you might want to check first if they have it before heading to the mall.

If you can’t go to Laguna, you can inquire and order online.  Just call them at 0998-555-4188 to inquire about shipping fees and product availability.

They have a lot of Dior Addict lip products and skincare at huge discounts.

Oh, let’s not forget about the nail polish.  I’m a sucker for nail polish so I had to keep away from this area.  Too much temptation! haha!

To keep myself from going on a makeup shopping spree, I started checking the perfumes section.

Beauty Scents 3

This is the area reserved for items with the biggest discounts.  I can spot Lady Gaga’s Fame perfume, Ferrari, Issey Miyake, and Salvatore Ferregamo.

Bvlgari heaven!

This set is perfect if you want to try all of the Bvlgari Omnia perfumes

Beauty Scents 7

This is the center table, which is the first thing  you’ll see when you enter the store.  They reserve this area for new arrivals and perfume sets from Jean Paul Gaultier, Bvlgari, Narciso Rodriguez,  and a lot of Issey Miyake.

During the event, Beauty Scents had a 1 hour Snap & Share period for their guests, and they told us that we get to take home 1 product of our choice after sharing a photo of the product online.

It was a really sweet gesture.  One that made me crazy for about an hour because I couldn’t decide between my favorite from the makeup section and the perfume section. Until finally I opted to let go of the makeup  since it’s been quite some time since the last I bought perfume.

I’m betting you can’t guess what it is, so I’ll show you instead.

photo 2

Yep. It’s the Bvlgari Aqua Marine for men, and no I’m not pulling your leg.

I have a secret love affair with men’s perfume and this. OMG.  THIS is my absolute favorite.  I have been seriously obsessed with this perfume since for-freaking-ever!

It’s not overly manly, so I can actually get away with wearing it.  It’s a really fresh and crisp scent that makes me want to take a good long whiff whenever I smell it.

Yes, I’m that obsessed with this perfume.  I’m so happy that the one I got comes with a travel-sized bottle and bath gel.  Just the 100mL bottle alone is around 6k in department stores, but the Bvlgari Aqua set is only 3-4k in Beauty Scents, which is a seriously awesome deal because this perfume smells so damn good.

I just had to say it again. OK. Fan girl moment ends here…. for now.

Beauty Scents 5

They have this small area for items that are very limited in stock and most of the items are from Guerlain.

BS Products 2

Isn’t this such a gorgeous color? ❤

photo 1

This bronzer compact is just too beautiful. I was thinking of getting this instead of the Bvlgari perfume, but I just know I will feel bad about using it.  I mean, look at it!  Doesn’t it make you feel horrible just thinking of using it and destroying the beautiful design?

Guerlain, whyyyy do you have to make your makeup look so pretty?   It’s so not fair!

I had to wrench myself away from this beauty to avoid further temptation and have my photo taken outside the store instead.

  photo 3

In case you’re curious, yes, I do like boys men who smell good.  Hello, I even picked a guy’s perfume for myself, so future boyfriend,  you better tuck this information in your head.  Haha! :p

photo 4

Here’s another photo of me with Lacar of  The Asian Parent Philippines. 🙂  We used to be officemates a couple of years back, and we haven’t seen each other since.  We had a nice time catching up in between makeup and perfume testing during the event.

We both had to catch the van going back to the city so we left shortly after this photo was taken.

Congratulations Beauty Scents for thte successful launch and opening of your first branch here in the Philippines!

I’ll definitely drop by again as soon as the other brands starts arriving. 🙂

Gastronomy: Wham! Burgers

Food, Lifestyle

         Hey guys!

I finally found the time to write about food.  I didn’t mean for this blog to be all about beauty so now I’m tipping the scales to balance it out. Let’s talk about food because… well, who doesn’t want to talk about food? :p

I was invited to try new items in Wham! Burgers a couple of week back, but yeah, I haven’t had the chance to write about it until now.  TBH I’m not really a burger person, but once in a while, I get the urge to sink my teeth into some seriously mean burger.  I was still slightly incapacitated by my knee injury when I received the invite but I really wanted burger so… you know what happened next. haha!

But before we dive into the food, let’s all bid the old Wham! logo goodbye.  They rebranded recently, which I think is a good move because the new look is so much better.

Right? It looks polished, which sets it apart from the usual burger places.

I won’t go on and on about branding, lest you conk out on me.

So, before I start wandering again, let’s talk about their new menu items and a secret menu item.  Yes, Wham! has a secret menu, and I’m about to let you in on it 😉

Wham! Burger sides – Spaghetti, Onion rings and Pepper Poppers (P70.00 each)

I was really hungry when I arrived and the first thing that was served were the side orders.  I normally steer clear of onion rings (tried the ones from Brother’s burgers before and I hated it!) and pepper poppers (I blame Chili’s.  Too salty!)  so I tried the spaghetti first.

I was surprised to find that it’s actually Pinoy style spaghetti.  Then I remembered that Wham! is an all Filipino concept, so I figured, it does make sense for them to serve Pinoy spaghetti.  It was just regular spaghetti though, and nothing worth raving about.

I probably ate a couple of forkfuls and tried one of the Pepper Poppers.

cheese poppers

ooh, hello there.

These were surprisingly non-greasy, considering that they are deep fried balls of cheese.  😀  I enjoyed munching on these so much that I didn’t even realize I finished the whole order. -_-  It was that good.

onion rings

What’s even more surprising is that I actually fell in love with their onion rings.  I was really hesitant to try this because a past experience left me with the mentality that onions rings are barely cooked onions coated with deep fried batter. -_-

However, Louie,  my friend who volunteered to drive me to North Edsa to eat here, tried one and told me it’s actually pretty good.  So I picked the tiniest piece that I could find and closed my eyes before popping it into my mouth. haha!

The onion was cooked really well so it was soft and juicy.  Imagine biting into the crispy coating and sweet juicy onion interior…. okay now I want onion rings. Darn it.

Before Louie and I finished eating the sides, Vannah, my friend who does PR for Wham! came over and introduced the secret menu item, which is…

spaghetti fries

Spaghetti Fries!  I have to admit, I liked this wayyyyyyy better than the spaghetti.  Which is strange because they used the exact same spaghetti sauce with this, but it tastes so much better to me!  Is it just me or does french fries make everything taste so much better?

I think it’s the fries. 😛

Louie and I finished this one rather quickly. haha!

Anyhoo, after the fries, they served the Slider Trio, which looks like this:

It doesn’t look big in the photo, but trust me when I say they didn’t look like sliders to me because they are huge.  They looked more like regular-sized burgers to me.  Picture about a half of the regular Wham! burgers.   That’s about the same size as these sliders.  I even remember asking Vannah if these are sliders because of the size. :))

She assured me that these are the Wham Sliders Trio and that they were really made to be bigger than usual.

One order is P200.00 bucks which is a really good deal.  Why?  I can show you better than I can tell you. 😉

slider 1

Exhibit A – You get a Bacon burger

This was reeeally good.  They bacon very tender and flavorful, which went perfectly well with the juicy all beef patty.  The burger was perfectly seasoned and well cooked.  Which also means this was gone in 60 seconds. :p

slider 2

Exhibit B – Cheeseburger

Louie was the one who ate this, so I don’t know if it’s good.  But judging by Louie’s reaction, I think it’s good too.  I did try the classic burger, and it was really good on it’s own.  It can only be better when you add some ooey gooey cheese on top. Yum! ❤

slider 3

Exhibit C – The Classic Wham! Burger

sliced burger

I haven’t been to Wham! in a while but this is what used to order back when I frequented this place, and I am happy to report that this burger tasted just as good as I remember.

I like to eat this burger on its own or with a generous helping of mustard.  Depends on what I’m in the mood for.

And now, I want to grab a burger even though I just had really good ramen for dinner. Haha!

Overall, I think Wham! is a good burger place.  The food is consistently good and prices are reasonable, and it’s a nice place to grab a quick dinner with your friends, or just craving for burgers.

What do you think of the new items from Wham! ?  Would you try the Spaghetti fries?

Let me know what you think!

May-June 2014 Favorites: Beauty and Non Beauty

Beauty, Lifestyle, Personal

Hi everyone!

It’s been so long since I had the chance to just sit down and write about things.  I haven’t been able to post as much as I want to because May and June was a lot busier than I expected it to be and most of my free time are restricted to weekends.  For the past 2 months, most of those weekends were crammed full of errands, work, a wedding  here, a trip abroad there, my birthday, aaand wakeboarding.

Did I mention that I reeeeally love May 2014?  Too bad my birth month is already over and June just ended <insert horrified where-did-the-time-go gasp here>. BUT that doesn’t mean the fun has to be over, which leads me to my favorites for the months of May and June.  I thought I should combine the two since I pretty much used the same stuff for both months.  But this time I’m throwing in a couple of techie items and bath products with the beauty stuff.  Just because.

So let’s start with the beauty items shall we?

01 Primary

I tried real hard to fit all of my favorites in this bowl and I succeeded.  At least for the beauty items.

These are all summer favorites and guaranteed that they can stand and last despite the heat.  I have so much love for the Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation and MAC Magically Cool Liquid Powder.  ❤  Oh and yes, those are cream blushes.  I mentioned these in my last post and I actually fell in love with them so here they are.  More deets below!

02 Products

1. Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel with SPF 30 PA+++

I have dry skin so I’m okay with heavy moisturizers, but during the summer, I prefer gel moisturizers.   It has a cooling effect on your skin and it gets absorbed so quickly which feels refreshing to me.  It also has SPF 30 so it’s perfect for when you’re going to be outdoors for a couple of hours.

The best part?  It won’t make you feel sticky even when you’re sweating profusely.  I can guaran-damn-ty it since I brought this to my solo trip in Siem Reap over a month ago and I can attest to the fact that this will reduce oiliness and that sticky feeling despite the intense heat.

2. Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation in BE-01

I’ve heard a lot of good things about this foundation, and although I am not big on foundations, I decided to give it a try.  Beauty Bar had my shade and it was 45% off (from P2750.00 – P1450.00) so how could I resist?

I’ve been using this for almost a month and I can easily say that it’s one of the best foundations I’ve ever used.  And mind you, I’ve tried quite a lot of foundations.

This is watery and very light on the skin.  It feels like you don’t have anything on your face, which is what I love the most about it.  It has medium to heavy coverage, and sets really fast.  I find that I don’t even have to use a setting powder for this because it makes your skin feel smooth and silky once it dries. The best part?  It has a luminous finish.  It’s not shimmery but it makes your skin look like it’s glowing.

It’s perfect for events because it’s practically sweat proof and photographs so well.  Plus points because it doesn’t melt, cake or smudge even when it’s so hot and you’re sweating buckets.

I highly suggest checking the Beauty Bar near you and nab a bottle of this foundation if they still have your shade. You won’t regret it.

3. MAC Magically Cool Powder in Truth and Light

03 MAC powder

How much do I love this powder?  I cannot quantify it.  This is just mind-bogglingly awesome and perfect for setting any type of makeup base.  I like my skin to have a bit of glow in it though, so if you’re after a totally matte finish, you might not like this.

I have a foundation that looks too matte after I set it with the Ben Nye Banana powder, and only this powder sets it without making my face look flat out matte.

It’s quite expensive but you know how MAC products are.  A little goes a long looong way and it will totally give you your money’s worth.

Yeah, yeah, I love MAC.  Sue me. 😛

4. Revlon Skinlights Face Illuminator in Bronze Light

This is like self tanner for the face and highlighter in one bottle.  It won’t stay on all day but it is definitely beautiful.

I started using this back in May when my arms and body were tanned but my face was starting to go back to my original skintone.  Now, I’m super tanned again so I just use this to give my face a little bronzy glow.

Don’t you just love that healthy glow you get when you’re tan?  It makes me sad when I apply foundation because while it evens out my skintone, it also conceals that beautiful glow on your skin.  Using this illuminator gives me some of that glow back so I don’t have to fret about using foundation. 🙂

04 cream blushes

5. Revlon Cream Blush in Coral Reef & 6. Bourjois Cream blush in Pink Sunwear

Ahhhh, cream blushes.  I used to hate them but nowadays, I can’t do my makeup without using one of these two.  I’ve been using the Revlon coral reef practically everyday for the past 2 months!  That’s saying something because I usually switch blush shades after 2 or 3 weeks.

The Bourjois pink sunwear is NOT pink at all.  It’s more bronze than pink but it is just perfect for giving your skin a post-summer glow!

Cream blushes look natural because they look like cheek stain, but I’m not a fan of the ones with the tacky finish.  It just puts me off of cream blushes which is a pity because they look so good on the cheeks.

Thank the beauty gods for the new cream blush formula that transforms them from cream to powder once they set.  You get the best of both worlds with these blush products.  The appearance of cream blush and the finish of powder blush. ❤

7. Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Crush

I have like 6 of these Revlon balm stains and I’ve had them since Mega days, but I only got this shade recently.  It’s actually the only shade from this line that I really want.  I still don’t understand why it took me 2 years to finally get it.  Haha!

I just love this color soooo much.  I favor dark and berry-toned lipsticks and lip products so this is right up my alley.

I reach for this balm stain whenever I’m too lazy to wear lipstick.

I still can’t believe I managed to narrow down my beauty favorites into that.

Anyway, let’s go through the Bath Products:

06 TCF

1. The Cream Factory Bath Cream in Goat’s Milk and Almond

I didn’t know it was possible to crave for a bath product until I ran out of my The Cream Factory bath cream in Goat’s Milk and Almond.  I literally caught myself imagining how this thing smells in the bath.  I was like, “Uh-oh.  I really should get a new bottle and put myself out of this misery. “

So I got myself the big bottle this time, and I am just obsessed with this! It smells soooo good!  It lathers up like a dream, leaves your skin feeling smooth, clean and hydrated.

I have too many good things to say about this product.  Bottomline? I don’t mind shelling out 700 bucks for something this good. ❤

05 hair products

2. L’oreal Sulfate Free System Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve been using these since I dyed my hair back in 2011, and to date, it’s still my choice of sulfate free shampoo and conditioner.  Unlike other sulfate free shampoo, this doesn’t leave your hair feeling sticky or dirty.

I love the EverCreme line the most since it smells like vanilla.  The Everstrong is okay too, since it smells like rosemary and juniper.  The Evercolor which is the pink one and not included in the photo, smells too manly, even for me. BLECH.

I’ll stick to these lines, thank you very much.

L’oreal Sulfate free system hair products are already available locally.  You can find them in SM department stores and Watsons.

Techie Favorites:

It’s my first time to have this section in my favorites.  Honestly, I’m not very into gadgets.  I don’t even like tinkering with electronics if they go wonky on me, so I try to use only the quintessential ones, like cameras, laptop and mobile phone.

However, I have very good reasons for getting a Galaxy tab and selfie pod.

08 techie favorites

1. Selfie/Monopod Stick

This is something I bought for my trip to Siem Reap.  It was a solo trip and I prefer to take my own photos.  🙂  I also liked the clip lens (esp. the macro one) so I decided to get it.  You can get them at a discount if you buy the bluetooth shutter, monopod and lens as a set.  I got mine from @monopodsph on instagram.

Here’s a closer look at the selfie gear.  Oh, in case you’re wondering I actually have 2 sets of clip lenses.  This way I don’t have to remove the wide lens from the macro one.

09 selfie pod

2. Samsung 7.0 Tab 3 Lite

10 tab

Oh hello there Lee Min Ho.  ❤

The main reason why I got a tab even though I already have an iPad is because of the Dramania app.  You’re probably wondering what Dramania is no?  Dramania let’s you download unlimited number of Korean, Japanese and Taiwanese TV series and movies for free.  Yes, it’s totally free!  The only catch is you have to have a Samsung gadget since the app won’t work on other OS.

Cool right?

I’ve been watching koreanovelas like crazy ever since I bought my tab last May. I think that means it really deserves a spot on my favorites for May and June.  😛

So those are my favorites for the past 2 months!  I feel like a total slacker for not blogging since May. -_-  I have so many things I want to share with you guys but I’ve been so busy that even my new purchases are piling up because I can’t even shoot them for posting.  I solemnly swear that I will try to post more often now that my schedule is a bit lighter.  I feel so bad since I have so many beauty and travel posts that I want to write but I just do not have enough time to really focus on it. -_-

I guess I’m too busy living my life to document things. Hopefully I can post more now that things are a bit light at work.  Or maybe I shouldn’t say that because I could be loaded with more work anytime starting tomorrow…

Fingers crossed!  Haha!

I hope you enjoyed this post!  I’m afraid I have to end this here since I’m the only person left in the office and I should go home for dinner already.

Until my next post!

Beauty Basics: Blush

Hi Everyone!

I’m back today for a quick post about blushes.  This will be part 1 of my Beauty Basics series wherein I will focus on my 5 beauty staples.  By “staples” it means the bare minimum makeup items that I always use unless I’m going to workout, swim or wakeboard.

Just so you know what to expect, these are my 5 Beauty Staples:

1. Brow Pencil/Powder

2. Brow Tint

3. Mascara

4. Blush

5. Lip Balm/Lipstick/Lip Stain

So today, we’ll talk about blushes.

This is a simple guide on ways to apply certain blush formats, how to wear “odd” shades and what you should look for and avoid when picking up new blush products.

Blush Basics

So let’s blush up on the basics

There are 3 Blush formats: Powder, Cream and liquid/tint.

Honestly I’m not a big fan of tints or cream blushes, though the latter is starting to grow on me.  I avoid using cheek tints whenever I can though, so even if I have a couple of tints in my stash, I won’t include them in this post just yet.

All About Blushes

Blushes, Brushes & a Beauty Blender

In my makeup stash, the number of cheek products are neck and neck with lip products.  I have no bloody idea why I feel compelled to buy new blushes or highlighters in varying shades all the time (I am baffled, really) but yeah, I end up buying a lot so I have a lot of blushers.

I tend to favor shimmery powder blushes because they are easier to work with compared to matte blushes.  They tend to be softer in texture and easy to blend to the skin.  Shimmer blushes are also “glowy” on it’s own so using one eliminates the need for a highlighter.  Well, most of the time.

powder blush

I. Powder Blushes x Angled Contour and Blush Brush

I favor angled blush brushes for powder blushes because it follows the natural contour of the cheeks and the tapered tip makes it easy to create blurred edges that makes the blush look natural.  If you’re a makeup newbie, I suggest that you start with shimmery blushes from mid-range brands (e.g. MAC, Tarte, L’oreal) as it is easier to work with the texture and pigment of their blushes.

If you’re moving up to more pigmented blushes (e.g. Sleek, La Femme, The Balm Instain) these are trickier to apply because they are very pigmented.  If you have a heavy hand with blushes and find it hard to adjust using an angled blush brush, I suggest using a stippling/duo fibre brush until you get used to the level of pigmentation of the product.

Duo Fibre brush ends are less dense compared to angled brushes so it picks up less product.  The softness of the brush tip also makes product application smoother.  You can’t go wrong with this brush, just remember to start light and use circular brushing strokes especially when you’re using matte blushes.

A. Shade Selection

As you can see in the photo above, I do not stick to any particular color family.  Forget the notion of sticking to a certain blush shade for your skintone.  There are blushes that will not seem wearable to you, but trust me, you can use any blush shade you want as long as you can match it with the look you have on.  Layering shades also work if you’re not good with coordinating your makeup looks.

This summer I skipped out on the standard peachy/flushed cheeks and opted for a bronze-y and berry-toned blushes.  I usually layer the shades to make bright blushes look more natural.  Check my previous post to see my favorite blushes.

I’ll make a separate post for my blush/face routine this week so watch out for that one.

B. Finish

There are three blush finishes: Shimmery, Satin and matte.  I’m sure shimmer and matte is pretty self explanatory.  Satin is a cross between the two.  It’s not quite matte but it’s not very glowy either.

Purchasing matte and satin finish blushes is pretty much foolproof as what you see in the pan is pretty much what you can expect upon application.

But for shimmery blushes, make sure that the shimmer leans more towards warm and golden tones or the shimmer/glitter matches the color of the blush.  I’ve bought a couple of blushes with shimmers that’s either silvery or, in the case of a purple La Femme blush, bluish.  I am yet to wear those blushes outside the house as it is difficult to make it look wearable.  I’d probably find a way to wear those eventually.  I’ll let you know when I do.

cream blush

II. Cream Blushes x Duo-fibre brush or Beauty Blender

I don’t really hate cream blushes, but if you’re used to powder blushes, it takes a bit of adjusting to work with a cream blush without getting totally frustrated.

In the photo above I selected several cream blushes in different formats.  Pot rouge by Bobbi Brown and Flower Beauty, Multi Stick by Nars and HD Cream blush in a pump bottle by Make Up For Ever.

For applicators, you have three options.  One is the Duo Fibre brush, which is the most commonly used medium for this blush.  I have my most treasured MAC 187 in the photo for that.  It’s my HG brush and I can’t sing enough praises about it.

MAC 187 is available in all MAC stores for P2750.00

It is expensive, yes, but boy you won’t regret spending your hard earned cash on this baby.

The second, less preferred choice would be the Beauty Blender.  Or any of those dupes that you can get your hands on.  It almost hurts me to say this because I love the MAC 187, but I prefer the beauty blender when it comes to applying cream blush.

Why?  Well, since using the BB (beauty blender) means you’re stippling the pigment using the round end, it makes the pigment blend to the skin seamlessly.  This method also ensures that you won’t displace your foundation or concealer if you choose to wear your blush over it.

But if you’re just looking into adding a pop of color on your cheeks and don’t actually wear a lot of makeup, you can get away with applying cream blush using your fingers.  Swirl you ring and middle finger over the pot and lightly dab the color on your cheeks until you cover desired area and get the color intensity that  you prefer.

A. Shade Selection

Since I’m a cream blush noob, I stick to staple colors I am comfortable with.  Peach, pink, coral, and earth-tone red.

I find it easier to work with cream format when I don’t have to sheer the product out so much.  Heavy blending can displace your makeup base, which is a pet peeve of mine.  I also notice that cream blushes tend to mix with whatever foundation you have on and the color changes.  I really hate this. -_-

Clearly, I still have a lot of cream blush practice to do.

B. Finish

There are 2 cream blush finishes.  The usual finish is that it stays dewy even as it sets.  Some cream blushes have cream to powder finish where in sets and appears matte and dry.

I’ve tried a lot of cream to powder blushes lately and I really prefer them to the ones that remains tacky. Try Boujois cream blushes or Revlon cream blushes.  They’re pretty good for cream blush noobs.

I usually reach for my cream blush on weekends when I just want natural flushed looking cheeks.

Most cream blushes do not have shimmer as they are glowy even without the shimmer, so if you’re trying out this format, look for a shade that you are comfortable with and work your way to bolder and deeper colors as you get used to it.

So that’s my guide to powder and cream blushes!

I hope I didn’t make you dizzy with all the details.  Let me know if you’re up for an tutorial or demo on blush application.  I’m thinking of working on a separate post for that. 🙂

Let me know what you guys think in the comments.

Talk later!

Beauty: 11 April Favorites

Beauty, Favorites, Personal

Hi everyone!

It’s been a while since my last post and I really missed rambling on here.

There seems to be a conspiracy that is keeping me away from my 1 blog post a week goal.  I had a wakeboarding accident a couple of weeks back and I sprained my MCL in the right knee.  I’m getting better and I can move around and drive but it’s still not back to 100%.  I’m currently having therapy sessions to heal my injury properly.

So my injury, plus the numerous deadlines looming at work has kept me far faaar away from blogging the past few weeks.  I’m actually writing this post while waiting for some things I need for work. haha!

Despite the injury and hectic work schedule, I’m still feeling really positive because it’s already May!  It’s my birth month and for some weird ass reason it just feels like everything will go my way this month…  Or will it?  We shall see.  But aside from the tragedy of turning 23, there are just so many things going on right now and I’m so excited about all of it!

1. My cousin is getting married next weekend! (finally!)

2. Several relatives and friends are coming home from the States. – This is always fun! 🙂

3. Frantic work pace will pause after May 22; but then again maybe not…

4.  Which means I can totally enjoy my first solo trip to Siem Reap by the 24th!  Soooo excited!

5.  My injury is healing rapidly and I should be able to get back on my board soon. (yeah!)

So now that I’ve rambled on, it’s time to share with you my favorite beauty products from the past month!  It’s a miracle to only have 11 items for April.  I actually have been using pretty much the same things since March, but I’ve tried a couple of some new and not so new things too, so here are my top picks:

eye products

Let’s start with the single eye products!

I’ve had this Kiko Concealer for a while now and I am guilty of forgetting that it existed.  Good thing it’s still in perfect form.  This is too light for me at the moment so I use it as a highlighter instead of a concealer.  I love to dot and blend this along my nose bridge, inner corner of the eyes and underneath the brows.  Think of it as reverse contour.  It’s less obvious but very effective.

Kiko Makeup is not available locally.  I got this a few years back on a Eurotrip.

Beauty Cottage eyeshadow duo in Peach Choco – I can’t praise this thing enough.  This is an amazing product.  Pigmentation is incredible, very true to color, what you see in the pan is exactly what you get when  you apply this on the lids.  Texture is very soft and buttery, almost creamy, and blends like a dream.  I cannot believe I scored this at at a discounted price of 320 Baht in Bangkok, plus I get to pick another eyeshadow duo for free.  I am not kidding!  That’s about 500.oo pesos for 2 excellent eyeshadow duos!  I own a number of MAC eyeshadows and I have to say that the quality of these eyeshadows trumps some of the MAC shades that I have.

I love the other duo too but the shades on this one are just spot on and perfect for summer, no other shades necessary. I was in a hurry when purchasing this though so I couldn’t get more.  I’ll definitely pick up more products the next time I’m in BKK.

Gino McCray Eyeshadow Single in Light Peach – Another beauty product I scored in Bangkok.  Got this at 95 Baht (P150.00) which is 50% off the usual price of 180 Baht.  Another excellent eyeshadow.  Very similar to the Beauty Cottage one  when it comes to texture and pigmentation.  The shade looks bronze-y in the pan but actually looks more like burnt rose gold when swatched.

This shade is perfect for summer and really lovely for a single eyeshadow look.  Just make sure to build up the color on the crease to make it look like you made more effort than you actually did. 😉

Revlon NN

Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation in True Beige – I’ve been wanting to try this foundation since it came out late last year, but I just couldn’t kick my BB Cream routine back then.  I bought this one on impulse a month ago though because I stopped using my BB cream after I got really tanned.

I have to warn you, this foundation oxidizes like CRAY.  On initial swatches, this shade was perfect for my tanned skin.  When I got home and applied it on my face, I was aghast to find that it turns more than 3 shades darker on me.  That and it looks really flat when it sets on my skin. *insert horrified mouth gaping moment here*

I was so dismayed since I was expecting a dewy finish from this product.  It did say “Nearly Naked” so the implication is it will look like skin.  But NO it did not. I wasn’t happy and I thought it was doomed to rot in a hidden corner of my makeup stash.  At least until I thought of mixing it with some gel moisturizer.

When diluted, this thins out just enough to give me that natural looking finish and light to medium coverage.   It still oxidized but this time it just went about a shade darker which wasn’t a problem for me.

So now it landed on my favorites list because it is pretty good, despite the fact that it doesn’t look Nearly Naked like it claims to be.

I am currently searching for a lighter foundation that will work well when mixed with this and a setting powder that won’t flatten and totally mattify it.  To shop for new stuff or shop from my stash?  Hmm.   and no, I don’t want to get another bottle of the Revlon foundation in a lighter color.

lip products etc

Some odd lip and eye products and a brush

Chic Cosmetics Round Kabuki brush – This is a dupe for the Sigma Round Kabuki.  I ranted about this in my old blog but I found that the prickly bristles softens after a couple of washes and now I really enjoy applying my foundation with this.

Bite Beauty Lip Pencil in Rhubarb – The perfect My Lips But Better shade with a mauve tone to it.  Love the texture and fragrance of this product!  It’s really pricey but this was part of a gift set so I got 4  travel size shades for the price of one full-size pencil.  I think I just might get this shade in full-size when I finish it.

MAC Cremesheen Glass in Star Quality – LE lipgloss from MAC.  Something I’ve had for a while.  This was actually a PR sample I got back when I was still in publishing.  I haven’t used lipglosses for quite some time, but watching Korean TV Series got me thinking of wearing lipgloss again.  I’m glad I did because reopening my lipgloss drawer made me realize just how many lip products I’ve been neglecting.  lol!  Anyhoo,  I hope MAC releases this as a permanent color because this shade is perfect for the summer!  Love the feel of this gloss too.  It’s not sticky like the lip glass but it is tackier than most lipglosses so it lasts longer.  It also makes my lips look plump and blurs the natural grooves of  your lips.  I don’t know why I but really love it when lipglosses do that.  I might be using this for a Korean Makeup tutorial soon.

Heroine Make Long & Curl Mascara – They weren’t kidding when they said this mascara will elongate and volumize your lashes.  It really would.  Move over Fairy Drops.  This baby just drop kicked you off the Mascara Top Charts  in one hit.

HM Mascara

This mascara has a thin and curved wand that makes it easy to maneuver and reach all of your lashes.  I advise that you wipe off some of the product on a tissue before using this, especially if it’s a new tube, because it will make your lashes clump like crazy.  So just wipe it, swipe it on your lashes, et voila!  It will give your lashes some really mean lift and volume.  Work quickly when using this mascara as it dries really fast, and when it does, it’s not moving out unless you attack it with an oil based makeup remover.

Picked this up at HK for around 60HKD.

tweezerman denman

Tweezerman Tweezer – This tweezer is supposed to be smaller than the usual Tweezerman tweezers, though honestly I can’t tell the difference.  It feels the same and works just as well at a fraction of a price.  This is only P500.00 ish or so compared to the Limited Edition ones that are almost 800 to 900 bucks.  Tweezers are just Tweezers.  I’m willing to pay for quality so long as I see a good reason for it.

Denman Hair Massager – I love love love this!  I used to run a hairbrush through my scalp a couple of times to stimulate blood circulation, but this one, hands down, does a better job at it.  If you like getting your hair brushed and that tingly feeling when  your stressed scalp starts to loosen up, then get this thing.  Like now.

P295.00 at Beauty Bar Stores.

Oh, you’re welcome.

26 Bourjois

Another item I picked up at HK.  I think it was HKD 60.00 then because it was on sale.  This works just as well at the Lancome Bifacil but it’s way cheaper.

If you ever find yourself in good old Hongkong, pop by one of the Bonjour stores and pick up a bottle of this.  You won’t regret it.

So that’s my favorite for the month of April! I just noticed that my previous post was my favorites for March. GAH.  How was I reduced to posting once a month?  I didn’t even notice the month passing by so quickly! batshitcray.

Anyhoo, I’m working on another post today and it should be up by this weekend.

Until my next post!

Beauty: March 2014 Favorites

Beauty, Favorites

Hi everyone!

Can you believe it’s already April!?  It feels like the first quarter of the year just flew by and it’s almost summer time.  Crazy right?

Anyhoo, today I’m sharing with you my favorites for the month of March!  I’ve been switching products a lot the past month and while I liked all of them, I had to taper it down to the ones that I’ve been using practically everyday.  You’ll probably notice that most of my favorites are already for the summer season.

Oh and I should warn you, this is a really lengthy post, so brace yourself.

01 primary

So let’s begin with face products!

02 Face Products Primary

I started wakeboarding late last year and because of that, I’ve been getting more and more tanned. Which also means my favourite BB creams and foundations are already too light for my current skintone.   Then I remembered that I bought a couple of Revlon Airbrush foundations on sale last year.

04 Revlon Foundation

Revlon Photoready Airbrush Foundation in Vanilla and Natural Beige

They no longer had my shade back then but since it was a 50% off sale, I decided to get two shades that I can mix to get my shade and these are just perfect!

05 Revlon swatches

Here you can see the swatches are a bit smeared. It is bubbly due to the “airbrush” packaging. The foundation is dispensed like a hair mousse, which honestly doesn’t make much of a difference.  I really love the formula of this foundation though.

It has superfine shimmer in it that makes you looks dewy and radiant right after it sets. I’ve worn this foundation out a lot the past month, and even after walking in the sweltering heat and sweating buckets, it doesn’t smear or transfer.   It doesn’t make me look greasy as well, despite the shimmer and dewy finish. That is pretty darn impressive since I don’t even touch up with a powder or a blotting paper the entire day.

I tweak the ratio depending on my skin tone and it works out pretty well! I seriously love this foundation! ❤

For reference, I have dry combination skin.

03 Ben Nye Buff

Ben Nye Luxury Powder in Buff

I’ve talked about the Banana Powder before, which is Buff’s more famous sister.  It is very popular with Filipinas because of it’s yellow tone.  While I love the Banana powder, I’ve been reaching for Buff more often now especially when I use a darker shade of foundation.  I find that using the Banana powder makes me look to dark and yellow.

Buff still has a yellow undertone but it is a more neutral color that wouldn’t darken your makeup base.

06 Zero Kuma Concealer

K-Palette Zero Kuma Concealer Type 1

I’ve been reaching for this concealer a lot because it’s one of the few face products I have that still matches my skintone. It’s the darkest shade in the line and it oxidizes so be sure to swatch all 3 shades and wait for a couple of minutes before purchasing one.

This concealer doesn’t crease or fade on me even though I tend to wear it for over 10 to 12 hours.

08 Blushes

Clockwise: Sleek Blush in Sunrise – MAC Mineraize Blush in Love Joy – Makeup Academy Blush Shade #6

I’ve been loving peachy toned blushes recently but for summer I felt like warm earth-toned blushes are so much better.  It gives you a healthy warm glow as well as abronze-y effect that makes it look like you just came from a trip to the beach.

 09 blush swatches

Blush Swatches (Top – Bottom) MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Joy,  Sleek Blush in Sunrise and MUA Blush #6

As you can see in the swatch, all of the blushes have the same warm and bronze tones in varying shades.  I like to layer these blushes to get a beautiful glowing effect.  I love the MUA blush the most because it’s so flattering.  It gives your skin a nice glow so I sweep that color all over the top of my cheekbones before adding one of the darker blushes on the apples of my cheeks.

Ahhhh.  This blush routine is making me love the summer heat.  Well… Not really.

10 Sleek Contour Kit

Sleek Contour Kit in Medium

This is the product that started my love affair with highlighters.  I won’t recommend this to makeup beginners as it takes a bit of practice to get used to working with the pigmentation of this product.

However, if you’re looking for an affordable contour kit, this is one of the products you should try. The Pixiwoo sisters once mentioned that this is a good dupe for the Make Up For Ever contour kit.

12 Sleek swatches

Swatched highlighter and contour powder

As you can see, the highlighter has a yellow undertone and looks metallic.  I love how this blends into the skin and sort of disappears.  It makes your skin look naturally radiant all day.

The contour powder is great and crazy pigmented so watch how much you’re picking up with your brush.  It has a reddish undertone too, which can be problematic if you use too much.

13 Brushes

MeMeMe Blush Brush (from blush box), Makeup By Toni Duo Fibre Brush, Makeup By Toni Angled Blush Brush

14 stippling

This Duo Fibre brush is part of the Makeup By Toni Hope Series brush set.  You can get the set here.

At first I didn’t like this brush because I was expecting it to be good for stippling foundation.   It isn’t dense enough for that purpose but it is perfect for applying powder and cream blushes.  It picks up just the right amount of product and the density is perfect for diffusing very pigmented blushes like La Femme.  I’ve been reaching for this pretty much whenever I’m applying my blush.

I won’t say this is an excellent duo fibre brush but it’s pretty good for the price.15 Blush Contour Brush

Makeup By Toni Angled Blush brush

Another very abused brush from the Hope Series set.  I love this brush because it is multipurpose.  I love contouring and highlighting with this brush.  The tapered angle cut makes it perfect for applying products on the cheekbones and the hollows of the cheeks.

I use this mainly for highlighting.

16 MeMeMe Blush Brush

MeMeMe Blush Brush

I used to ignore this brush because the block shape makes it horrendous for applying blush.  But now I love this for contouring!  I got the idea from Lauren Curtis.  I was watching her makeup tutorial and she used a Nars Ita Kabuki brush to contour which is similar to this but with a longer handle.  Click this link to view the Nars brush.

Anyway, when I saw that video, I remembered this brush and I tried using it for contouring.  It works like a charm!  Just make sure to blend the contour product well and use a light hand to avoid creating streaky lines.

17 Eye Makeup

Now we’re on to eye makeup!  This is probably my favorite category in my favorites.

18 Eyeshadow

Urban Decay Naked 3, Maybelline Lumineyes Quad in Rose, MeMeMe Goddess  Eyes Quad 02

Naked 3 – if you saw my haul post <see previous post> you would know that I bought this because it has a mix of pinky neutrals and taupe neutrals.  When this first came out, I thought Urban Decay is overdoing the whole Naked line already so I wanted to pass on it.  But now I just love it!  The bronzy pink hue in the palette is perfect for summer!

19 MeMeMe

MeMeMe Goddess Eyes Quad 02

I love this tiny quad because it can fit into my emergency beauty kit! I just love how you can create multiple looks with a compact quad like this.   What makes it even more perfect is the incredible pigmentation.  The swatches are applied without a primer.  It’s that pigmented!  I am seriously in love and in awe of UK drugstore products.

20 Maybelline swatch

Swatches of Maybelline Lumineyes Quad in Rose

This was a gift from Nikki, and my first thought when I opened it was it is so Naked 3.  I didn’t have the Naked 3 at that time, but I’ve seen reviews of the palette.  This is something you could try if you want to get pinky neutral eyeshadow without splurging on the Urban Decay palette.

As for me, it made me decide that I need the Naked 3 in my life.

21 Fairy Drops

Fairy Drops Lengthening Mascara

I used to hate mascaras with vengeance because most of the ones I’ve tried did absolutely nothing for my lashes.  If it adds volume, it makes my lashes lose the curl.  If it retains the curl, it doesn’t volumize.

That was before I met Maybelline Falsies and this amazing Fairy Drops mascara.  The unique shape of the wand is reminiscent of Giorgio Armani mascara wands and it works well with the formula.  This mascara is so much better than The Falsies though.  It adds volume and retains the curl even with just one coat.  It’s incredible!

When you’ve had this for a while, it will dry up and thicken.  I’m not gonna lie, it will make your lashes clump.

My tip?  Pull the wand out of the tube and using a tissue paper, gently squeeze out all the product from the wand.  Dip it back in the tube and apply on the lashes.  It will be good as new.

If it doesn’t work, it’s probably time to toss your mascara tube.

22 Brow and Eye Liner

Dolly Wink Brow Pencil in Dark Chocolate & Make Up For Ever Aqua Eyes pencil

Dolly Wink is my life saving brow product.  I use this to outline my brows before filling it in with brow powder.  This pencil reminds me of Shu Uemura’s hard formula brow pencil.   It is a perfect match to my brows though so I can use it to fill in my brows as well.  I do that when I’m in a hurry.

The Make Up For Ever eye liner is another lifesaver this summer because it does not smudge, crease or transfer.  I use this to tightline and line my lower lashes.  I love that I don’t have to worry about it smudging even in the sweltering heat!  It is worth every single penny.

23 Lip balms

24 Hurraw

Hurraw! Earl Grey Lip Balm

25 Hurraw Details

I love my Jack Black lip balm, but I’m beginning to obsess over this lip balm.  I mean really, what’s not to love about this tiny tube of goodness?  It’s organic and made with raw ingredients.  The formula is perfect for Philippine weather too.  It’s thick but not slick which is my preferred texture for lip balms.  Plus it smells HEAVENLY.  It smells exactly like CBTL’s Earl Grey tea and I freaking love that stuff!

Confession: I find myself pouting whenever I use this just so I could get a whiff of this lip balm.  Yes.  I am that obsessed and far gone over this thing.

26 LCDM Lip Balm

Le Couvent des Minimes Smile Lip balm

27 LCDM texture

Nothing will make you think of Provence as much as L’occitane and Le Couvent des Minimes (LCDM) products. One whiff of this lip balm will transport you to the lush French countryside.

Made with honey, honey extract, shea butter, and royal jelly this is a really rich and thick lip balm that is best used in the evenings.  I think this was formulated for use in colder climates because it has a warming effect when applied on the lips.  I love to use this when my lips are in need of intense hydration and repairing.

It tastes just like honey though so I have to find a way to keep myself from licking it off my own lips.

28 Skincare

Skincare favorites!

29 Bioderma

Bioderma Sensibio H20 Micellar Water

I know I once extolled the virtues of Bifesta and claimed it is a better and cheaper option than Bioderma.  Well please let me retract that statement.  While I still like Bifesta, I realized that Bioderma IS better.

Why?  It has better skincare properties.  Bifesta removes makeup better but it does nothing for my skin.  One time I randomly decided to use this instead of Bifesta since I thought it shouldn’t go to waste.  I forgot to apply moisturizer that evening, but when I woke up the next day, my skin was so clear and hydrated.  It has almost the same effect as the Kiehl’s Midnight Recover Concentrate.

Needless to say, I’ve been using this to remove my makeup ever since.

30 Cure

Cure Clear Aqua Gel

This was gifted to me last year and because I’ve never heard of it, I had no idea what it was.  Since the label is in Japanese, it didn’t help either.   So I googled it and found out that it’s a water based exfoliant.  I thought it odd until I tried it out.

It cleared my skin up right away and it feels like my skin was so healthy and glowing.

I use this once a week to unclog my pores and whatnot.

31 Caudalie

Caudalie Grape Water Face Mist

I love love loooove Caudalie. It is the only pricey brand that I don’t mind splurging on when I have the chance.  Perhaps it’s because it brings back memories of my trip to France?

I don’t know.  But I love anything Caudalie.  So when my boss gave me this face mist, I was over the moon.  It sprays a really fine mist that is perfect for setting my makeup in the morning.  It is expensive so I reserve this for setting my makeup before I leave the house.  I use Avene or The Face Shop spray mist throughout the day.

But this, if it was readily available and less expensive, I’d use it all day!  As it is, I have to save it so it will last a little bit longer.

32 LCDM Cleansing Milk

Le Couvent des Minimes Gentle Cleansing Milk

What do I love about this?  hmm.  I don’t have a negative thing to say about this product because I love everything about it.  The light rose scent, they way it removes makeup like a breeze (except for waterproof mascara) and how it leaves your skin feeling fresh and hydrated.

After trying this, I understood why Julia of Bless My Bag sings praises about this makeup remover.

See it in action here:

33 LCDM Before 34 LCDM Emulsify 35 LCDM After

See what I mean by fresh and hydrated skin?

36 ZA

ZA Cleansing Foam

We’re finally down to my last favorite skin care product!  Za is a the more affordable brand under the Shiseido umbrella.

This is s a light cleansing foam that effectively cleanses skin without stripping it of moisture.  It doesn’t leave your skin feeling squeaky clean and dry like Pond’s facial washes do and I just love that.

37 Scents

Ralph Lauren Big Pony 2 and Le Couvent des Minimes Lavender Pillow Mist

I’ve had the RL Big Pony for a year already and even though I rarely used it before, i know it is a really nice fragrance.  It has the perfect blend of floral and fruity notes so it isn’t overpowering.  It’s the perfect summer scent though so I’ve been using this practically everyday.

38 LCDM Pillow Mist

LCDM Pillow Mist

I refrain from spraying this on my pillow during weeknights because it makes me late for work. lol!  It just smells so damn good.  It will make your pillows and sheets feel and smell crisp and clean once you wake up, which also means you would never want to leave your bed.

This makes me want to dive back into my duvet and pillow in the mornings.

Who would have thought pillow mists have this power?

39 Nail Polish

Clockwise: Revlon Gel shine Top coat, Cutex Emergency Nail Remedy, Revlon in Dreamer, RBL Scrangie, American Apparel Nail Lacquer in Cameo Blue and  H&M I am not a Kiwi

40 Polish

Not much of a neon nail polish fan so I opt for bright yet more sedate shades for summer.  Just between you and me, I think neon nail polish make my hands look dark.

41 Top and Base Coat

This has been my go to top and base coat combo for a year now.  I can vouch that Revlon topcoat can make my manicure look impeccable for almost 2 weeks. No chips at all!

The Cutex nail remedy is perfect for when you need polished looking nails minus the nail color.  It seals off damaged nails and makes it look healthy as well.

42 Hair

Paganini Velcro Rollers and L’oreal Elnett Hair Spray

I swear by these hair products when I my hair needs volume and taming.

I use the rollers to pull my hair into shape, add volume and body.  I just roll them on before applying makeup then remove afterwards.  A couple of sprays from the Elnett and my hair is set for the day.

WHEW!  My gosh!  This was one LONG lineup of favorites.  I swear I tried to whittle it down as best as I could, but I just couldn’t part with any of these.  The length of this post probably explains why I’m so late in posting this.  haha! But there you go!

This concludes my March Favorites post.  I hope you guys found the mini reviews helpful!

Thank you so much for reading! ❤

Beauty: Collective Haul

Beauty, Hauls, Travel

Hi everyone!

Today I’ll be sharing with you a massive collective haul post.  To be honest, I’ve been trying not to post any hauls since I feel like all I ever post are hauls, but I just couldn’t help it.  I think haul posts are so much fun!  I can blog hop for hours just looking at haul posts. haha!

Last weekend, I realized I’ve been stacking all of my newly purchased makeup to one side of my vanity area instead of putting them where they should be.   I usually put them away after shooting the items for a haul post.   After seeing how much stuff I’ve accumulated, I figured it is time for me to write another one.

We have a lot of ground to cover so I divided the products into different categories.

Tip: if this photo looks too dark to you, adjust the brightness of your screen.  I edit photos using maximum brightness to maintain photo quality.

Are you ready to see my recent purchases? It’s a mix of beauty products I hoarded from my recent trip to Hongkong, gifts, online shopping and sale shopping. Now I kind of feel guilty.  Kind of.

Let’s start with Skincare, shall we?  Honestly, I’m not big on skin care since I’m really lazy.  However I am a total hand cream hoarder, and I love trying new bath products.

Yep. I’m a sucker for body creams and hand creams alright.

Bath & Body Works Triple Moisture Body Cream

These were gifts from a tita who recently had a vacation here in Manila.  I love using these, but since they are really thick and sticky, it doesn’t sit well with Philippine weather.  Whenever I use this during the day and I start sweating, it turns into a sticky mess.   I still use it during the evenings though.  This type of body cream is perfect for use during the cold season because it is formulated for use in countries with temperate climate.

The Cream Factory SCRUB-in-a-TUB

(Goat’s Milk and Almond – Yummy Variant P699.00)

My current favorite body scrub!  I just love the scent and fine texture of this product.   The quality is very comparable to more expensive brands.  Most luxury brand scrubs are notable for their non-abrasive texture that still effectively exfoliates your skin.  If you’re on the hunt for those kinds of scrubs, you should definitely try this product!

I posted a review about this scrub recently.  You can read that here.

available at stand alone SNOE Stores &

The Body Shop Absynthe Hand Cream (100mL)

(HKD 130 for 2 tubes)

Don’t you just hate it when your hands get all dry in the mornings?  I tend to have dry, papery textured hands in the mornings so I make it a habit to slather hand cream on before heading out of the house.

I also keep a tub of body butter on my office desk and another one in my bag so I can moisturize my hands when necessary.

This Absynthe hand cream from The Body Shop is one of my favorites.  Absynthe is a new line from Body Shop.  I didn’t like it at first, but the fresh herbal scent grew on me and now, I prefer this over the Almond one.  I love that it’s  light, hydrating and non-sticky.

This 100 mL tube would cost you more than 1000 bucks here in Manila though, so when I visited their outlet store in Hongkong and saw that they’re selling these for half the price, I had to get two.

Le Couvent des Minimes Gentle Cleansing Milk

(P799.00 for 200mL)

I first heard about this product and brand while browsing Bless My Bag and Julia was raving about this cleanser.  She’s one of my favorite beauty bloggers as her site isn’t overtly commercial and I really like her thorough and honest product reviews.

Le Couvent des Minimes is a sister brand of L’occitane, but it is a more affordable line.

I saw their booth in SM Aura last February and I was pleasantly surprised to find that they were having a 50%  off sale on all of their products.  I remembered Julia’s review so I got one bottle to try.  Upon checking the rest of the products from the line, I opted to purchase a pillow mist and mint lip balm as well.

Regular Price: Gentle Cleansing Milk P799.00 || Lip Balm P499.00 || Good Night Pillow Mist P864.00

It was a good, albeit impulse, purchase since I loved every single one of these!  I had a mini panic attack when I read Julia’s post that the brand is being phased out of Manila so I rushed to SM Aura last Friday to stock up on the pillow mist and several things I wanted to try.

Out of curiosity, I asked the saleslady if they really are pulling the brand  out and she told me that they are not and in fact, they just restocked some products because the brand was doing well the past few months.  I was even able to get an extra bottle of the cleansing milk that seems to just fly out of their shelves!

I still purchased several items though just to be on the safe side. lol! They just might change their mind and pull out later anyway.  *fingers crossed*  I have the entire Rose Skincare line now and I’ll be reviewing that soon. 🙂

Le Couvent des Minimes products are on 50% off sale in selected SM Department stores until March 31, 2014.

Being the hoarder that I am, my trip to Hongkong wouldn’t be complete if I didn’t load up on Japanese beauty products.

Luminous Change Falsies in # 10 & 12

(HKD 68.00 each from Sasa)

Japanese falsies are awesome, and I really looked for the ones that looks like demi-wispies because they look more natural than the ones that are uniformly cut.  I already murdered a pair from #12 though. haha!

Andrea Individual Lash Adhesive

(HKD 28.00 at Sasa)

This isn’t anything special, but I needed adhesive for individual lashes and these were really cheap and latex free.  It can be a bit of a pain to remove though since it’s the type that hardens when it dries.

(L-R) Style & Noble False Lash Applicator and Shiseido Lash Curler

(HKD 68.00 & 72.00 respectively from Sasa)

I usually just stick on my falsies using my hands but one of my favorite YouTubers, Wayne Goss, uses a special tweezer like this one to apply falsies so I picked one up to try.

I don’t see the deal about expensive lash curlers, but I figured I should give it a try before making a judgement so I picked up this Shiseido lash curler.  I kind of regret it.  I’ll post a review about this soon and a comparison with my favorite lash curler by Grip.

Stila Written in the Stars palette

This was a  pasalubong from another tita who visited from the States.  I’m not sure how much this is but I do know this is from Stila’s 2012 holiday collection.

The eyeshadows are pretty good and easy to blend, although they aren’t as good as Urban Decay shadows.  I really love the packaging and product placement.  It might be impractical though since the shape of the pans will make it hard to pick up the product when it’s almost out.

I’ve used this palette a couple of times already and it is a good everyday palette.  It’s not something that you have to have, since it doesn’t have any unique shades, but it’s nice to have a neutral eyeshadow palette.  You just can’t go wrong with them.

Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette

(P2500.00/USD 52.00)

I’ve been a big fan of Urban Decay eyeshadows since I got my hands on the Naked 1 palette over 3 years ago.  The texture of the eyeshadows are just phenomenal.  All the shades are super smooth, blendable and incredibly pigmented, so I don’t mind shelling out some extra money for these palettes.

However, it took me a while to jump on the Naked 3 bandwagon (and completely ignored the Naked 2 craze) because I feel like they’ve overdone the entire Naked line already.  Remember Naked Basics and Naked Flushed?  Oh, let’s not even start on the face powder and highlighters.  It’s just too much.

Another reason is I detest anything pink.  As much as I love makeup, I’m not a total girly girl and I avoid owning anything in pink if I can help it.  There’s nothing wrong with it if pink is your favorite color.  It’s perfectly fine.  Personally though, I feel like pink and I will never mix well.  I feel like it screams “girly-girl over here” and that is just not my thing.

Anyhoo, long story short, I have an automatic aversion to pink.  Naturally, I didn’t have any eyeshadows in that color family either.  It wasn’t until Nikki Tiu of gave me a pinky eyeshadow palette that I tried using the color for my eye makeup.

I was surprised to find that it’s actually a flattering color on me.

As I continued to use that eyeshadow quad, I couldn’t quite decide if I should get the Naked 3 palette.  In the end, I obviously did and I was lucky to find it at such a low price.  Online stores usually sell this for P2900.00 up to P3500.00, but I only had to pay P2500.00 for mine.  Just 100 pesos more than the US price.

So far, I am enjoying this palette.  I don’t go all out and use all the pink hues all at once though.  I’ll be posting a more thorough review on this palette soon.

available at and @bonmarchepage on instagram

Sidebar: I thought of getting the Naked 2 palette as well and I could have, just to have the complete set, but I figured some of the Naked 2 shadows are in the Naked 1 palette and some of the darker shades in Naked 3 are similar to some Naked 2 eyeshadows so I decided not to buy it.

Who knows, maybe I’ll get sucked into it eventually.  Or not.

Heroine Make & Fairy Drops Platinum Mascara

(HKD 65.00 & 118.00 from Sasa)

I have a hard time finding mascaras that retains the curl of my lashes, but I’ve been hearing a lot of good reviews about Fairy Drops and the much more obscure Heroine Make mascara so I bought a few to try it out.

Fairy Drops is more expensive since it is more popular and already repackaged for distribution in Sephora stores.  Heroine Make is slowly gaining popularity as well so make sure to try this before they start repackaging it.

Both mascaras are excellent in adding length, lift and volume.  Something that even Lancome Hypnose cannot do for my lashes.

Dolly Wink Brow Tint in Cocoa & Makemania Brow Tint

(HKD 89.00 & 59.00)

I use three products to fill-in my brows every single day. The last product is the brow tint.  My natural hair is black but I like to fill-in my brows with a grey-brown brow powder so I need to use a brow tint to lighten my brow hair.

I haven’t used these yet, but I’m definitely posting a review once I do.  I just need to finish my The Face Shop Brow tint first.

Dolly Wink Brow Pencil & K-Palette Brow Pencil

(HKD 65.00 & 55.00 at Sasa)

I use brow powder to fill in my brows, but it takes me about 10 minutes just to get it perfectly filled-in, and there are times when I simply do not have the patience or the time to do that.  I think brow pencils are the most convenient brow makeup to use because it’s so easy to use.  You can have perfectly filled-in brows in less than five minutes.

I like my brows to look ash brown instead of black or red brown, and Dolly Wink Cocoa is just perfect for me.  I haven’t tried the K-palette one but I’ve used the liquid pen before so I think they will be pretty similar.  It’s good too but it has a red undertone which I’ve come to dislike in the past few months.  Nevertheless, I’m reserving judgement until after I use it.

This part of the haul has been long overdue.  Got these items online last November.  (see what I meant by overdue? haha!)

Real Techniques Brushes – Sam’s Picks set

(P1750.00 – The Vanity Zone)

I’ve had my eye on this ever since it came out.  I like the multipurpose brush and buffing brush, but they aren’t available individually, plus I didn’t really care for the other brushes that comes with them in a set, so this is a great way to get both brushes.  I like all of the brushes in this set except for the flat foundation brush.  IDK, I like flat foundation brushes but I think this is way to small for a foundation brush.

Still, I think this is a good brush set.  Although, I don’t recommend this for makeup beginners as it doesn’t have all of the basic brushes you will need.

Revlon Matte Balms

(Sultry, Elusive, Mischievous, Shameless)

(P520.00 at The Vanity Zone)

The first time I saw a review on this by a Youtuber, I knew that I had to have the purple one right away.  Unfortunately, it takes a while for new Revlon products to arrive here in Manila.  I had these pre ordered last year and I got them way back in November, but I never got around to posting about them.  I also ordered a couple of other colors, but the more intense shades are your best bet when it comes to this product.  Sultry and Shameless go on smoothly and opaque in just one swipe.  They also stain and fade evenly.  I find the other two lacking in pigment and staying power.

Overall, these are great!  Since I like my lip color to be matte, I prefer this over the kissable balm stains and the lacquer balms.

I’m thinking of getting Striking and some of the nude shades now that these are more widely available. You can now get these in Revlon counters for P575.00 each.

K-palette Kuma Concealer, Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer, Flower Cream Blush

(HKD 95.00, 109.00 and 23.00 respectively.  All items are from Sasa)

For someone who used to dislike concealers and cream blushers, I’ve been purchasing too many of these lately.  I blame it on tanning and the summer heat!  It’s making me reach for products that feels lighter on the skin without sacrificing the staying power.

My skin has gotten a lot darker recently so most of my face products no longer match my skintone.  </3 It’s a sad thing, I know.  BUT it still works to my advantage because I finally got to use the Kuma Concealer that I couldn’t use before.  It used to be a shade too dark once it oxidizes, but now it’s a perfect match.  I’ve been using this just to cover up blemishes and my under eye circles before setting it with powder.  It evens out my skin tone perfectly and it doesn’t crease or budge the entire day so it works out pretty well.

Because I’ve been using it a lot, I used up about a third in a month so I restocked when I was in HK.  It costs less that P600.00 there but if I buy it here it will cost P900.00.  The 50% markup is just cray!

While I was in HK, I remembered reviews about Bourjois.  I’ve seen their products in Singapore last 2012 but I wasn’t really enticed to purchase any of it since I haven’t seen reviews on it.  After seeing a lot of rave reviews, plus the fact that their products are manufactured by the same company that makes Chanel cosmetics, I would be insane not to try it out right? 😛 Unfortunately, the cream blushes aren’t available in HK and the other products were just so-so so I settled for the Healthy mix concealer.  I’ll let you know how it goes.  🙂

Last thing in this section is this wonderful bargain find!  HKD 23.00 for a cream blush?!  Crazy kind of awesome! I picked one up to try and the coral shade is just perfect if you want to get a sunkissed look.  It’s not a cream to powder finish cream blush so it’s easier to work with.  It doesn’t streak and it sets into a dewy finish which is really lovely.   This is a bit hard to find because it’s in the bargain bin where everything is just dumped together and you’re left to scavenge for hidden gems.

Bourjois Maxi Format Makeup Remover (HKD 59.00)

This was a great find in a Bonjour store in HK.  It works just as well as the Lancome Bifacil makeup remover but you get so much more product at a lower price.

Rosy Rosa Point Makeup Remover

(HKD 40.00 from Sasa)

I’m curious about this as I haven’t tried any on-the-spot makeup remover yet. However, haven’t used this yet so I can’t tell you if it works well.  In any case, the pencil format makes it easy to use and carry around in a makeup kit.

Caudalie Hand and Nail Cream, Caudalie Lip Conditioner and Lavshuca Eye Liner

(Caudalie set HKD 75.00 Lavshuca liner HKD 70.00)

If you’ve been reading my old blog, you would know that I am a big fan of Caudalie.  The hand cream is one of the best I’ve tried and this lip balm is really good! I favor lip balms that aren’t viscous or too slick.  This one hits the perfect note between the two.

I’ve been using the K-Palette eyeliner for a while now and while I do like it, it is pricey at P800.00 for an eyeliner.  Even the P600.00 price tag in HK is expensive. I was browsing online and I saw several posts on the Lavshuca eyeliner.  It was more afforadable at HKD70.00 so I thought I should give it a try.  I’ll give this a whirl once I finish my current line up of eyeliners. 🙂

Beauty Bargain Tip: In case you are in HK and you plan to shop for beauty products, make sure to canvas for prices of products in several Bonjour and Sasa stores first.  It can be overwhelming as the way they display items are just crazy!  I suggest that you check Sasa to see if they have the items that you want as they have the most organized display of stocks, then check Bonjour if they carry that item then compare the prices.  A lot of items are usually HKD 10 cheaper in Bonjour, especially the Dollywink, K-palette and Heroine Make products.  This is something I learned a little too late.

WHOOHOO! We’re finally done!  I feel like I’ve been typing on and on with this post! CRAY!

I’ve been using some of the stuff in this post for a while now and they are definitely going to be in my favorites for the month of March!  Watch out for the next posts!  I’ll be posting about my March Favorites and Summer beauty essentials.

I hope you guys enjoyed this post.  Let me know if there’s a product you’d want to see a review on.

As always, thank you for reading!

Review: Make Me Blush Nail Spa & Beauty Lounge

Beauty, Reviews

Hi Everyone!

Last weekend, I was invited to try a newly opened nail spa in the New Manila area, and I am so excited to share my review with you guys!  I intended to have this post up way earlier, but things have been so crazy in the office lately, I never had the time to just sit down and write a post.

So finally, here I am on a Friday night, having a date with my laptop so I can share my thoughts on Make Me Blush Nail Spa & Beauty Lounge.  No hard feelings there.  I swear.

But before we start, let me give you a visual tour of the place.

I love the retro design of their signage! ❤Make Me Blush Nail Spa & Beauty Lounge Exterior

Make Me Blush is located on the 3rd level of Hemady Square Building in E. Rodriguez Avenue.  It’s pretty near my place so I didn’t have a hard time looking for the building.  Hemady Square is a newly opened mall, so all of the tenants, including Make Me Blush, have only been open for about a month or so.

This is what will greet you upon entering the spa.  It’s evident that the design was well thought of and executed.  I like the hushed ambiance.  It made me feel like my stress was slowly melting away. Oh, did I mention that the marketing girl in me really appreciated how the color scheme of the spa matched the signage and mini posters?   :p

As you can see, they offer an impressive array of services.  From makeup to hair styling and waxing, right down to massage and the usual mani-pedi options, they really meant it when they said “Beauty Lounge”.  You could spend an entire day in here to be pampered from head to toe.  I know I would.

You know what the best part is though?  The full body massage is excellent and it’s only P380.00.

I am NOT kidding!

But anyway, let’s move on before I start divulging all the details.

I love the whimsical interiors and airy atmosphere.  The spa has a higher ceiling compared to other nail salons I’ve been to, and in my opinion, this makes for a better ambiance.

Can you believe these chairs are from the 1960’s?  Alyssa, the owner of Make Me Blush Spa, had these chairs re-upholstered and painted to look new again.  Gorgeous no?

These bird-cages-turned lamps are such a nice touch!

Make Me Blush also offer makeup and hairstyling services, so one of the sections of the spa is reserved for those services. Isn’t this makeup area the ult? One day I will have my very own makeup mirror and vanity area just like this one. 😛 haha!

There was a separate area if you want avail of the hairstyling services but I didn’t take photos since someone was having her hair done.  She might be uncomfortable with having her photo taken.

They also have this private massage room.  Can you guess what the folded thing is?  No?  It’s a pair of disposable short pants. :))  Personally, I prefer to get a massage without it, but it is a nice touch.  I think customers who aren’t comfortable about getting a massage sans their outerwear will appreciate this.

So now, let’s start with the highlight of my visit.  The mani-pedi session.

I love, love, LOVE nail polish and having my nails done.  Can you believe I was totally uninterested in makeup and other beauty products about 2 years ago?  I only appreciated makeup when I started working for a fashion magazine.  Nail polish, however, is a different story. I just can’t get enough of the stuff!  My mom keeps on scolding me when I buy more. haha!

As much as I enjoy doing nail art and painting my nails, it is such a treat to have my nails done by someone else every now and then.

In Make Me Blush spa, the nail technician will bring this tub of warm water to soak your feet for a few minutes.  They will use this to soak your feet and soften your nail cuticles.

Hello there scuffed toe nails

My toes, in the process of getting buffed, shined and polished.  They use  Klean Color base and topcoat, but for the nail color. you have the option to choose other brands for a minimal additional charge.

Color play

I always have a hard time picking just one color. lol!

I ended up picking Orly Purple Crush for my toenails.  It’s funny though because this is definitely not purple.  But whatevs. I’m starting my transition to summer colors early this year.

Ate is painting my toes here.  Excuse the chubby foot.

For manicures, they will give you this tray so you can wash and soak your hands on the white containers filled with warm water.

I had a hard time picking another color for my hands, but this Essie Butler Please polish was just the perfect summer blue color!

See what I mean?  I’m thinking of getting a bottle of this since it’s seriously gorgeous and I just love Essie nail polish!

Ta-dah! ❤

I didn’t catch the nail technician’s name and she didn’t have a name tag 😦  But she did a really nice job and she really helped me move stuff around since I couldn’t pick up my bag or look for my charger, lest I undo the nail polish she just applied on my nails. :))

I waited until my nail polish was dry before going for a full body massage.  I love massages and I like to get one at least once a month, so I was really happy when my friend arranged for a massage to be part of the services I will be trying.

I couldn’t take any photos though so I can’t show you, but the masseuse was great! She took care of the knots and lamig on my back and she constantly checked with me if I was okay with the amount of pressure she was using.

The massage was supposed to be one hour only, but unlike other spas, they focus more on giving you a nice massage rather than cutting it short so they won’t go over the allotted time.   Quality service right there!  I couldn’t believe the massage was only P380.00

I am definitely coming back for a massage soon.

This is the basic menu of the services they offer.  I think the prices are more affordable compared to other salons, but their services are just as good.

Overall, I think Make Me Blush Spa and Beauty Lounge is a great concept. They made a lot of beauty services available in one place and that is really convenient if you need to have several things done. It’s great that the establishment is in an accessible area, but at the same time, the mall is not crowded.

If you live in the New Manila area, you should definitely check this place out.  It’s worth a visit just for the massage alone!

Visit the Make Me Blush Facebook page to find out more about the services they offer. 🙂

As always, thank you guys for dropping by.  I’ll talk to you again on my next post.

Lifestyle: What’s in my Bag?

Lifestyle, Personal

Hi everyone!

I’m back for a quick post.  Today I’m going to share with you what I have been carrying around in my bag lately.  I just thought this would be an interesting post because, being the nosy person that I am, I love reading blog posts about purses and what people usually carry in their bags.

Now, if you want to know what I have in my bag, read on.

I am a bit of a pack rat so I usually carry a ton of stuff in my bag.  Hence, I need to have a roomy purse all the time.

Cobalt Blue Balenciaga Giant City Bag

This Balenciaga bag may look small to you but it is surprisingly roomy!  It can hold a lot of things and the best part about it is I don’t have to worry about breaking it since it’s really sturdy.

I’m not a total bag hag, but I am particular about bag quality, so I like to invest in nice bags like this one. 🙂 The fact that it can go with any outfit I decide to throw on doesn’t hurt either.

So this is everything that was in my bag.

Told you it’s pretty roomy.

Gadgets schmadgets + them chargers

You might be scratching your head at this point, but yes, I have to have two separate phones and an iTouch too.  Why?  Well, I like to use the  iTouch for music and games.  That way my music library and games won’t mooch off memory space in my phone.

Aaaand I have two mobile phones because one is my personal phone and the other I use for work.

Beauty Booty

Now it wouldn’t be my bag if it didn’t have a beauty stash.  I don’t bring that many lip products all the time.  It just so happens that I haven’t cleared out the lipstick pocket in a while. *excuses* lol!

A closer look of my emergency beauty bag.  I’ve had this one for a while.  The brushes are part of MAC’s Glamour Daze collection, and I keep a selection of makeup in the other pocket.  They’re nothing special but what I have here can get me through any makeup emergencies that could occur.

Let me know if you’d like to see a separate and thorough post about this.

Sunnies from Sunnies by Charlie and Eyeglasses from Mike Nuosl

Now these are the two things I really can’t leave behind.  I hate driving without sunglasses on, unless it’s evening time and I can’t work in front of the computer for long without my glasses because it hurts my eyes.

My eyesight isn’t that impaired but I just prefer wearing glasses with multi coated lenses to protect my eyes.

2014 Moonleaf planner, 16GB Flash drive and my Parker pen

I know people usually keep their schedules on their mobile phones nowadays, but there’s something about keeping a planner that actually motivates me to organize my schedule and everything else in my life.  There are times when I accidentally leave my planner behind and it always feels like I lost a limb.  I’m that attached and dependent to this thing.

Of course it has to have a pen to go with it.

Flash drive – you never know when you’re going to lose internet connection.  Oh wait, you get disconnected right when you need to send a huge file.  Drat.  This is why I keep a flash drive handy.  Always.

I’m notorious for always keeping candies and snacks in my bags.  The army of ants swarming towards my bag should clue you in… Just kidding!  Well maybe not.

Anyway, I always keep a pack of sours and chewing gum in my bag.  Girl’s gotta have her sugar stash.  I add a bar of granola bar or two whenever I feel like it.  Just because.

Last, but not the least are my wallet and house keys.

Now these are the things we should always carry around with us, because really, what would you do without money and keys to your house?

These along with car keys and my powerbank are super essential to me, but I forgot to include them in the photos.  Perhaps I’ll include them when I need to create an updated version of this post.

So far, that is everything I tote around in my bag. There’s not much in here, actually.  If I did this post when I was still commuting… well let’s not go there. haha!

Thank you for reading up to this point!  I hope you enjoyed reading this post, because I had a lot of fun writing it. 🙂

See you guys on my next post!

Beauty: Review on The Cream Factory SCRUB-in-a-TUB

Hi guys!

First of all, I want to thank you for visiting my new blog!  I’ve been so excited about my own “.com” and after purchasing it last week, I couldn’t concentrate on anything because I was so stoked about having a brand new canvas to paint <or write> on.

So after going through my beauty stash, I figured it would be best to kick off this blog with a product review.  After a serious case of indecisiveness, I finally decided that a review on The Cream Factory’s SCRUB-in-a-TUB would be the perfect first post for my new blog. I have the Yummy scrub, which has a chocolate base in the Goat’s Milk and Almond variant! Now that name is a mouthful.

If you read beauty blogs religiously, I’m pretty sure you already know about The Cream Factory.  I did a review on their bath creams in my old blog, and I freaking love the stuff so I was really excited when I received an email from the Because Inc. team saying they’re giving me one of their awesome scrubs to try and review! ❤

Now let’s have a look at the scrub!

The Cream Factory Scrub-in-a-Tub Yummy in Goat’s Milk and Almond

Once you get a whiff of this scrub, you will understand why they felt the need to include a “Don’t try to eat this stuff” warning on the label.  It smells HEAVENLY and it looks seriously delish!

See what I mean?  You could easily mistake the stuff for chocolate ganache!

I have a confession to make.  While trying to pick which scrub I like best,  I accidentally smeared a glob of it on my nose.  All because I was too eager to get a whiff of it.  I’m embarrassing, I know.

SCRUB-in-a-TUB is available in 3 variants, the Salty, Creamy, and Yummy.  As you can see in the photo above, each scrub has it’s unique ingredient that will exfoliate and hydrate your skin.

It was so hard choosing between the Salty and Yummy variants, because I was torn between trying something new and going for a classic scrub.  I love how the Salty scrub is such a great exfoliant, yet it is still gentle to the skin.

In the end though, I picked the Yummy scrub because it’s something different and new to me.

So what’s so good about the Yummy scrub?

It has cocoa bean bits.  Aside from exfoliating, the antioxidants in the cocoa bits “awakens” your skin and makes it look brighter and softer.   What I love the most about this is it’s the middle ground between the Salty and Creamy scrubs.

When I tried the creamy scrub, I could feel the fine and subtle walnut sprinkles on my skin but I felt like it’s too gentle for me.   Meanwhile, the salty scrub is very thick and although it isn’t harsh on the skin, it’s really meant to be used on the body.  Read: It’s for hardcore scrub fans.

I’m somewhere in the middle.  I like scrubs but I don’t want to overdo it, so the Yummy scrub is just perfect for me.  It’s grainy enough for body use and gentle enough for the face.  I love using this as a facial scrub once a week because I feel like it really cleanses and brightens my skin.  That’s a big plus for me since I wear makeup almost everyday.  There are times when I forget to exfoliate and the deep seated makeup residue on my skin causes breakouts.

I’ve had this scrub for 2 weeks and I’ve been using it on my face once a week and twice a week for the body and it is AMAZEBALLS.

I used the scrub on my face last Friday evening and when I woke up the next day, my skin looked extra fresh and bright.  😮

Disclaimer:   The Because Inc. team told me that if you want to use these as facial scrubs, the Creamy one would be your best bet,  especially if you have sensitive skin because it is the most gentle variant.  While it works for me, I wouldn’t recommend  using the Yummy scrub on your face if you’re not used to scrubs because it could have adverse effects.  Remember, what works for me doesn’t necessarily work for everyone else.

Now that I’ve given you my two cents on the product, let me show you what it looks like and how it works!

You can clearly see the cocoa bits in the scrub.

When massaged onto the skin, the scrub turns white.  It will slough off the dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling and looking fresh and clean.  Your skin will smell like chocolates too. *wink*

See?  The back of my hand looks so fresh and hydrated. 🙂

On the photo above, you can see all the different The Cream Factory ingredients!  Each ingredient has it’s unique beneficial property, so don’t choose your The Cream Factory product based on the fragrance alone.  Make the most out of your choice by choosing what would be good for your skin as well.  After all, the products are meant to be dessert for your skin. 😉

As for me, I love Almond and Cinnamon the most! They both smell great and I always feel refreshed after using the bath creams!

I’m about to finish my bath creams though, so I need to repurchase them soon… If only I don’t have a hard time picking between Cinnamon and Almond… haha!

But I digress.

Overall, I love The Cream Factory SCRUB-in-a-TUB.  They are pricey at P599.00 (Creamy), P699.00 (Yummy) and P799.00 (Salty) but we’re talking about premium products made with the best ingredients there are so, I think they are really worth the money.

I will definitely repurchase when I finish my tub, but maybe I’ll get the Salty one next. 🙂

What about you?  Have you tried any of The Cream Factory products yet? I would love to hear from you!

Until my next post!

P.S.  The Cream Factory SCRUB-in-a-TUB are available at stand alone SNOE stores within Metro Manila, but you can get select variants online at too. 🙂

P.P.S.  A little birdie told me that The Cream Factory is having a promo on their bath creams right now!  If you purchase a large bottle of Bath Cream (26 oz.) you will get a 7.5 oz bottle of bath cream for free!  You can avail of this promo in Robinsons Dept. stores only though, so head on over to Robinsons Galleria, Magnolia or Manila! Or else I will hoard them all and leave nothing but crumbs for you. harhar! 😛  I’m kidding!  You can thank me for the tip later.
